DOD: Virginia Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

Master Sgt. George A. Bannar Jr.

A 37-year-old soldier from Virginia died in an enemy attack in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said.

Master Sgt. George A. Bannar Jr. of Orange died Tuesday of injuries he suffered when his unit was attacked with small arms fire in Wardak Province, the Department of Defense said.

Bannar was assigned to the 3rd Battalion 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, N.C.
