Eddye Williams just wants to bang on her tambourine all day.

Not many people get to experience more than 11 decades of living.

D.C. councilman Harry Thomas Junior joined family, friends at a birthday party at Williams' Northeast home.

A northeast D.C. woman celebrated her 110 birthday. She's believed to be the oldest woman in the city.

Williams is believed to be the oldest woman in the city. At her party, Williams said she feels good and doesn't think about age. She'd rather play her tambourine and write poetry.

But there's another impressive chapter to this story. Just a few years ago, Williams was living at a hospice care center. She recovered, though, and is now living at home with the help of a caregiver.

    A happy birthday indeed.
