Twenty-seven residents are out of their homes after an early morning fire blazed through an apartment building in Fairfax.

Fire and police responded to the scene around 3 a.m. Sunday, at 7803 Belford Drive in the Mount Vernon area.

Authorities said the fire and flames poured from the Murray Gate Village apartment complex.  The fire started in apartment 204, and then spread out, affecting 12 units in the 3 story building.

The response went to two alarms.  No injuries have been reported.
