Car Theft Suspects Jump Off Overpass; One Critically Injured

A chase involving a suspected stolen vehicle led to three people being injured after they jumped off an overpass in Prince George’s County, Maryland, early Sunday morning.

U.S. Park Police were pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle along northbound Interstate 295 shortly after midnight. The chase continued into Capital Heights, Maryland, when three people jumped out of the car and over a wall on an overpass.

Officials said the three fell onto railroad tracks below the overpass. Two of the three were rescued from the tracks, and one person was listed in critical condition.

Authorities said the third person was found hiding from police a short time later.

Rail traffic was stopped during the rescue. The names of the injured people have not been released.
