Car Splits in Two in Horrific Crash

The impact of the crash sent a second car skidding up Central Avenue

Two women went to the hospital Thursday morning after a horrific crash in Largo.

It happened just after 10 a.m. when two cars collided in the intersection of Central Avenue and Watkins Park Road.  The force of the crash split one car in half.  The back piece of the car landed 30 yards away.  A female driver was thrown from the car, according to a Prince George's County Fire spokesperson.  She suffered critical and life-threatening injuries.

The other car landed on its roof, after skidding about 75 yards up Central Avenue.  The female driver of that car was trapped inside for a short time.  She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Maryland State Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
