Here’s a free way for businesses to add extra security. Now they can join a network of close-circuit television cameras that’s operated by D.C. Police.

Police use the network to prevent crime. Officials say statistics prove areas with cameras had a greater drop in violent crime.

Business owners can join the network by registering their security camera with the police department. Officers say the footage can help investigations and be used as evidence.

Businesses can register their cams with police by clicking here.
