A 6-year-old boy has been shot and wounded in southeast D.C., police say.
D.C. police said the shooting happened at a playground in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road Saturday.
The boy was conscious and breathing, police said. He was shot in the leg.
Community leaders say the boy was caught in the crossfire between rival gangs.
Police said officers will patrol the neighborhood.
