Man Robbed When Attempting to Sell Car

Police say three men robbed a man at gunpoint when he showed up to sell his vehicle

A man who made arrangements to sell a vehicle to a stranger was robbed at gun- and knife-point when he arrived to make the sale, police said.

The 35-year-old victim from Alexandria, Va., told authorities he and the unknown man agreed to meet in the 3100 block of Chesapeake Drive in Dumfries Tuesday. When he arrived about 8:15 p.m., three men approached the victim, police said.

According to officials, one of the men showed the victim a knife, while another displayed a handgun and robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of money.

The victim was not hurt during the incident.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect who displayed the knife and arrested him at his home.

Police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence and recovered a handgun, knife, and the reported stolen money and clothing reportedly worn during the incident.

Daniel McKenzy Harper, 30, was charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is held without bond and will appear in court on June 28.

Authorities are still working to identify the two other men involved in the robbery.

The man with the handgun is described to be a black male between 18 and 25 years old.
He was about 5-feet-6-inches tall with a thin build and black, short, bushy hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and black stripped shirt with black jeans.

The second man involved is described to be a black man between 18 and 25 years old, about 5 -feet-8-inches tall with a thin build and weighs about 145 pounds. He had black, short, bushy hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black, long sleeved shirt and black jeans.
