Armed Burglary Suspect Shot, Killed in Va.

Northbound Jefferson Davis Highway was closed in Prince William County, Va., after police shot and killed an armed burglary suspect.

Police shot and killed an armed burglary suspect in Prince William County Wednesday afternoon.

The man was wanted in connection with a burglary before noon in the 1500 block of Indiana Avenue in Woodbridge, Va.

Police found the suspect vehicle at 1:39 p.m. in the 18200 block of Old Triangle Road in Triangle and stopped it. Police managed to take the driver into custody without incident, but the passenger fled on foot and disappeared.

Police K-9 was able to track the suspect to a wooded ravine off northbound Jefferson Davis Highway, and officers observed him with a handgun.

After refusing orders to drop the weapon, the suspect moved toward police was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were injured.

Northbound Jefferson Davis Highway was closed at Brady Hill Road for a time. One northbound lane opened before 4:30 p.m.
