Police in Alexandria and Fairfax County are investigating what they believe to be a homicide in Alexandria.
The body of 30-year-old Mark Earl Ives, of Alexandria, was found early Sunday morning in the 5400 block of Broadmoor Street. Investigators believe that Ives was assaulted by an acquaintance and died from upper body trauma.
An autopsy by the Office of the Medical Examiner is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
