Local Man Claims $1 Million Lottery Ticket

Alexandria resident chooses $628,000 one-time cash option.

An Alexandria man is the newest winner to come forward in the Virginia Lottery’s $1,000,000 Cash Blast game.

Lottery officials say Jeffrey Jones came forward with the winning ticket and had the choice of taking $1 million over 25 years or $628,000 all at once.  Jones, who works as a truck driver, chose the $628,000 one-time cash option.

Jones told Virginia Lottery officials he couldn't believe that he had won, and sat staring at his ticket for a long time.

The ticket was purchased at the C-Store located off of Richmond Highway in Alexandria, said Virginia Lottery.  The store received $10,000 from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Lottery officials say Jones is the second player to claim the top prize in the $1,000,000 Cash Blast, and six other tickets are yet to be claimed.
