95-Year-Old Pearl Harbor Survivor Saluted at WWII Memorial Ceremony

One of the few remaining World War II veterans to survive the attack at Pearl Harbor attended a special ceremony at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall.

On the 75th anniversary of the attack Wednesday, many people thanked U.S. Army First Sgt. Edward Davis, 95.

"I'm very impressed with this turn out here,” Davis said. β€œI feel honored."

Davis said he had just left the mess hall after breakfast when nine men standing around him were killed.

Davis has spent many nights at the Armed Forces Retirement home in Washington, where he lives, thinking back.

β€œIt stays with me all the time in the back of my mind," he said.

Davis was awarded a Silver Star during the war, and he served in Korea and Vietnam.

He believes those men who died at Pearl Harbor are looking down now, and that makes him feel good.
