The D.C. average is listed at $4.16, but at the Exxon gas station by the Watergate Hotel, gas is going for $5.09 per gallon.
That's right, $5.09 per gallon.
In our area, many stations have already crossed the $4 mark. At one Exxon on Route 1 in Crystal City a gallon of regular gasoline is $4.17.

The record high for gas -- $4.11 was set back in 2008. Some analysts think $5 gas may be here by summer, but others think we are nearing the peak price.
