We're suffering more pain at the pump -- and there's no end in sight.
Gas prices went up another penny overnight to $3.99, and it looks like the national average will hit $4 a gallon some time this week.
According to AAA.com, the national average is $3.99 per gallon. It’s going for $3.99 in Maryland and $3.88 in Virginia.
The D.C. average is listed at $4.16, but at the Exxon gas station by the Watergate Hotel, gas is going for $5.09 per gallon.
That's right, $5.09 per gallon.
In our area, many stations have already crossed the $4 mark. At one Exxon on Route 1 in Crystal City a gallon of regular gasoline is $4.17.
With gas prices so high, many people are leaving the car at home. Demand for gasoline has dropped for the sixth straight week.
