Police continue to investigate dispute

Police in Rockville, Md. are investigating a dispute that left five men with stab wounds.  Four Silver Spring men have been charged in the incident.

Officers responded to the Rockville Sportsplex around 1 a.m. Sunday for the report of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found a vehicle trying to leave the parking lot. Police stopped the vehicle, with five men inside. They also detained four other men nearby.

Five of the men were suffering from stab wounds. They were taken to nearby hospitals. None of their injuries are considered life threatening.  Police say the five men in the vehicle were uncooperative, and refused to give their names.

The individuals were all charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

Investigators said that the dispute occured between two groups entering and leaving the sports complex.  One group believed they had a prior conflict with a member of the other group, and a shouting match ensued.  The groups exchanged insults, inclduding talk about being gang members, according to police.

Four people were charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault::

  • Rafael Antonio Marquez, 22, of the 4100 block of Dahill Road
  • Wifredo Castro Marquez, 23, of the 4100 block of Dahill Road
  • Wilber Noel Marquez, 26, of the 4100 block of Dahill Road
  • Ricardo Pecher-Saloj, 18, of Piney Branch Road
