16-Year-Old Seriously Hurt While Riding Mountain Board, Being Pulled by Vehicle

A 16-year-old was seriously injured after falling from a mountain board, similar to a skateboard, while being pulled by a vehicle in Ashburn, Va., Sunday.

Another 16-year-old was driving the vehicle, which had a rope tied to the rear, in the parking lot of Broad Run High School. That teen has been charged with reckless driving.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Inova Loudoun Hospital and was later airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Last year, another Virginia teen died in a similar incident.

In June 2013, John Malvar, 18, was riding his skateboard while holding on to the side of a car being driven by his 17-year-old friend, said Arlington County police.  Malvar fell and fatally struck his head on the pavement.
