15-Month-Old Dog Stabbed in Neck

Police searching for whoever stabbed Cane

Fairfax County Animal Control officers are searching for whoever stabbed a 15-month-old pit bull in the neck on Friday.

Officers were called at about 9 a.m. to the 3500 block of Rolling Hills Avenue in the Mount Vernon area to pick up a dog. The dog, named Cane, was found with injuries to the left side of his neck. A vet determined that the injuries were consistent with a stab wound.

Officers are now trying to determine who stabbed Cane.

Cane's owner was unable to pay the vet bills, so the dog was turned over to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. The shelter and Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter will defray the costs of Cane's care.

Friends of the Shelter is collecting donations for Cane's medical expenses. For more info on donating, click here. If you donate, make sure you put that it is for Cane in the "purpose" box.
