Report on Hatemonger's Competency Expected at End of November
Next hearing for accused Holocaust Museum shooter Nov. 30

WASHINGTON -- A lawyer for an 89-year-old white supremacist accused of killing a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum said a report on his client's competency to stand trial will be ready at the end of November.
James von Brunn is accused of fatally shooting Stephen T. Johns on June 10. Last month, von Brunn was sent to a federal prison in North Carolina for the competency evaluation.
At a status hearing Wednesday, which von Brunn did not attend, public defender A.J. Kramer told U.S. District Court Judge Reggie B. Walton that the evaluation would be completed Nov. 8, after which officials needed 14 days to write the report. Walton scheduled another hearing for Nov. 30.
Kramer says von Brunn, who was shot near his ear by other museum guards, has trouble hearing and hasn't been able to walk since his injury.
