CSX Train Collides With Car in Southeast

It was a close call for a man who managed to get out from his car shortly before it was struck by a freight train in Southeast DC Saturday morning.
Investigators say the car, which was parked on the tracks at the west end of the Anacostia Railroad Bridge, was hit just after 5 a.m. by an outbound CSX train.
The car landed on its side in the river, in about 1 to 2 feet of water. The man got out of the car before emergency crews got to the scene in the 2000 block of M Street.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries. He is expected to be all right.
CSX says the train wasn’t damaged.
