Keri Russell and Shane Deary are calling it quits. "The Americans" actress and the Brooklyn-based contractor quietly parted ways several months ago. "They have been separated since early summer," the actress's rep tells People. "The separation is amicable and their focus is on their children."
Married since Valentine's Day 2007, they are parents to son River, 6, and daughter Willa, 23 months.
In the holiday issue of of Capitol File magazine, Russell said she's determined to be a hands-on mom in spite of her busy work schedule. "I tend to think I can do everything myself," the former Mousketeer said. "I don't even like the word nanny, so I call them babysitters. Is that weird?"
Russell also revealed her family's holiday plans for this year. "Christmas time gets more fun the older my kids get. In fact, I've been saving River's Christmas lists. Last year he asked for a cheetah. Yes, a cheetah. That and a red T-shirt. How crazy is the cheetah and how mundane the red tee?"
When Russell covered the May issue of Women's Health, she shared similar concerns about being a working parent. "I try to quell my guilt by saying I'm a better mom if I'm interested in my own life. I'm not resentful. I can be really engaged when I am there," she told the mag. "I like the yin and yang of both worlds, and I think it would be hard for me to give up either one."
