Ellen DeGeneres Asks Gwen Stefani to Describe How Blake Shelton ‘Popped the Big Question'

"No Doubt" singer Gwen Stefani promotes her album "This Is What the Truth Feels Like" and "The Voice."

Ellen DeGeneres had Gwen Stefani giggling like a schoolgirl Thursday.

The comedienne invited her to appear on her eponymous daytime talk show Thursday, where Stefani plugged her new album, "This Is What the Truth Feels Like."

"Your CD comes out in a couple of weeks, and it's amazing how quickly this happened," DeGeneres said. Stefani agreed that it was "unbelievable" given that she wrote "four or five" songs in January. "It's just really cool to make music and be in real time and share it with everybody and feel everybody's love and support and energy," the "Make Me Like You" singer said. "It's just been a magical record."

DeGeneres soon moved on to other topics – like Stefani's boyfriend, Blake Shelton. "So, let's talk about Blake," she said as photos of the couple appeared on the screen behind them (check it out in the video above around 3:20 mark). As a series of pictures showed her sitting in Shelton's lap at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Gala, Stefani said, "I thought it would be a good idea not to talk about Blake, to see what would happen..."

"OK," DeGeneres said. "Let's just look at pictures then."

"They didn't have enough chairs at that event?" she teased. "You had to sit on Blake's lap?"

"She's so good because you just think you're talking to a normal person, then she'll just throw one in," Stefani said to the audience, to which DeGeneres jokingly replied, "I am a normal person."

DeGeneres then mentioned NBC's "The Voice," joking about tabloid engagement rumors in the process. "When he popped the big question – about you being his mentor – how did he do that?" she asked.

"Did you rehearse that before?" Stefani asked with a laugh.

"Yeah. OK," DeGeneres admitted. "I thought it out."

"I want to be on that show as much as possible," Stefani said. "It's just...I got so much out of it."

"You did!" DeGeneres said, alluding to her romance with Shelton.

Season 10 of "The Voice" premieres Monday, Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. C.

(E! and NBC are both members of the NBCUniversal family.)
