It's a case of the seven-year hitch.

After days of speculation, a spokeswoman for Brad Pitt confirmed Friday that he and Angelina Jolie are engaged.

"Yes, its confirmed." Cynthia Pett-Dante told Reuters. "It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There is no date set at this time."

A representative of Beverly Hills jeweler Robert Procop confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the large diamond ring Jolie wore to a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum on April 11 is her engagement ring.

In the statement, Procop says he worked closely with Pitt to create the glittering bauble.

"Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a year long collaboration," Procop tells THR. "He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina's hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality."

Pitt, 48, and Jolie, 36, have been a constant source of will-they/won't-they speculation regarding a marriage since they went public with their relationship in 2005. The couple have three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and three biological children, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

The choice of Procop is understandable considering the jeweler previously collaborated with the actress on The Style of Jolie jewelry line (funds from which have been dedicated to the Education Partnership for Children in Conflict), created items for her to wear in the film "The Tourist," and Jolie has sported his designs on numerous red carpet occasions.

Though the pair have previously denied that they would wed, Pitt told THR in January that he did hope they would one day tie the knot for the sake of their children. "We'd actually like to," Pitt said in the interview, "and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out."
