Fans and visitors take in the spectacle at last year's Capitol Fourth celebration.

Actor Bradley Whitford will be the host for the annual July Fourth concert on the National Mall.

Whitford will introduce a lineup performers including headliner Barry Manilow, who will perform a patriotic medley.

The "Capitol Fourth'' concert on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol is the prelude to the massive fireworks display on the National Mall. This year will mark the 35th anniversary of the celebration. The free event draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and is broadcast each year on PBS and NPR stations.

Whitford is best known for his role on "The West Wing'' as an adviser to the president. He currently stars in the comedy-drama "Happyish'' on Showtime.

Other performers for the "Capitol Fourth'' concert include KC and the Sunshine Band, country band Alabama and classical pianist Lang Lang. Grammy-nominated popstar Nicole Scherzinger, country crooner Hunter Hayes and star of NBC's "The Voice" Meghan Linsey are also set to appear.

The concert and celebration will air on PBS Saturday, July 4 at 8 p.m.
