Wizards Lose by Tenth of Second, Fall to 0-10 as Winless Start Continues

Today in "Wizards continue to lose" news, the Wizards continue to lose.

Wednesday's 101-100 overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks, however, was the very definition of a heart-breaker. That is, if it wasn't already shattered from the previous nine games.

After Kyle Korver made his fifth three-pointer of the game to give Atlanta a 101-100 lead with 1.9 seconds left in overtime, Washington had one last chance. Kevin Seraphin missed a hook shot, but heart-breakerter collected the rebound from underneath the basket and threw up a layup as time expired to seemingly give the Wizards that elusive first win.

Yet, after reviewing the play, officials decided that the ball was still in Webster's hand when the red light went on to signify the end of the game. Further review indicated that Webster's shot was one-tenth of a second late. One-tenth. You can cross "last-second heartbreaker" off your Wizards loss bingo card, along with "late-game comeback comes up short."

The Wizards are the 13win-less in NBA history to start a season 0-10, but per Elias Sports Bureau, they are only the third team to extend their winless start to 0-10 in overtime (the 1994-95 Clippers and 2002 Grizzlies were the others).

Webster's shot may not have counted, but at least somebody got a good look at the game Wednesday.
