Source: Redskins Special Teams Coach Danny Smith Leaving for Steelers

Washington Redskins special teams coordinator Danny Smith is leaving to fill the same position with the Pittsburgh Steelers, sources told News4's Dan Hellie.

Smith, a Pittsburgh native, has been with Washington since 2004, but fans were certainly calling for his job early last season after the Redskins allowed two blocked punts in the first two games of the season, not to mention the fact that they also had a league-high five field goal attempts blocked two seasons ago. And lest we forget the whole Billy Cundiff thing. Oh, and Brandon Banks as a kick returner.

The Steelers were looking to fill their special teams coaching vacancy after Amos Jones was hired by the Arizona Cardinals.
