For his return to St. Louis, former Cardinal and current National Rick Ankiel took out a full-page ad thanking the fans for their support during his time there.
"Many thanks to Cardinals' fans and the City of St. Louis for your support and cheers over the years," the ad read. "It was a privelage and an honor."
It was a classy move, and one that we would have liked to see from some of our own former hometown players, such as...
I’m sorry I pooped in Dray’s shoe. But he deserved it, so I’m really not that sorry.
Love and finger guns,
Happy to be finally be in a baseball town. What’s with all the cows and cheese though? And Packers fans? And it’s &$%* cold.
Can I come back?
Or how about...
Ovechkin? Never met the guy.
Let us not ever, ever forget...
That whole “if you draft me, you’ll never regret it” thing? Was I right, or was I right? And to think, you could have ended up with Eddy Curry.
I STILL PLAY HERE.
What athlete goodbye letter would you like to see?
