Lopez spent last season as a backup center for the Wizards and had his moments as a rim protector and post scorer. His right-handed hook shot became an urban legend in Washington D.C. as he averaged nine points andย 3.8 rebounds in 71 games.ย
Washington had a bit of a log jam at center entering free agency after agreeing to a blockbuster trade involving Russell Westbrook with the Lakers last week. With Daniel Gafford, Thomas Bryant and Montrezl Harrell on the roster, Lopez's return certainly seemed in doubt.ย
Lopez now joins a Magic team with two young big men, Wendell Carter Jr. and Mo Bamba, looking to grow their games and improve through the franchise's rebuild.ย
