Fred Smoot Shows Off Red Wolves T-Shirt During Washington's ‘Back to Football' Virtual Rally

Fred Smoot has made it clear he wants 'Red Wolves' to be Washington's new team name. And he's not backing down anytime soon, either.

Smoot served as a co-host for Washington's 'Back to Football' virtual rally on Sunday alongside Julie Donaldson, and the former cornerback sported a shirt of Washington's new, and likely temporary, rebrand.

However, in typical Smoot fashion, he brought his own shirt to show off as well, showing that the Red Wolves movement is alive and well.

The former Washington cornerback was one of the first people to campaign for 'Red Wolves' as Washington's next moniker. In an interview with NBC Sports Washington in July, he explained why the name would be a perfect fit for the Burgundy and Gold.

"I think the Red Wolves would be one of those things that I heard nobody say that I think would be a great one," Smoot said. "I can just see FedEx Field and the 80,000 people just howling like Wolves. That would really be something."

Since then, Smoot has become the face of the 'Red Wolves' movement campaigning for Washington's new team moniker. Out of all the possible replacements, Red Wolves has arguably the biggest support.

While it's clear that Smoot has his mind made up for what Washington's next moniker should be, the team is likely still several months away from choosing its new name. The club will play the 2020 season simply as the 'Washington Football Team.'
