Summer Storms Set to Slam Millions, Forecasters Say

A severe weather system that has already flattened homes, spawned tornadoes and flooded neighborhoods threatened to cause more damage Monday, NBC News reported. Storms pounded a vast area from New Hampshire to North Carolina and from Michigan to northern Louisiana on Sunday. Six tornadoes reportedly touched down, more than 200,000 customers were left without power and and thousands of flights were canceled or delayed. The weather system was expected hit New England and West Virginia from around 1 p.m., while the South was set to be slammed in the afternoon.
