A Virginia man faces several charges after police say he led them on a wild chase through three counties Thursday night on Interstate 66.
The incident began on I-66 in Fairfax County. Officials said a state trooper pulled over a pickup driven by Austin Griffith, 31, of Amissville, after seeing him drift across the westbound lanes. When the trooper approached the truck, Griffith took off, police said.
That led to a high-speed chase, which, at one point, crossed over into the eastbound lanes of I-66.
The chase finally ended on Route 29 in Fauquier County, when police were able to flatten the tires on Griffithβs pickup using stinger spikes. His truck came to a stop, but police said Griffith took off on foot before being apprehended minutes later.
No one was hurt in the ordeal.
Griffith is charged with DUI, driving on a revoked license, eluding police, as well as several drug charges.
