Suspect Identified in Leesburg Hit-and-Run, Victim in Critical Condition

Leesburg police have named a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left a 57-year-old man in critical condition Monday -- but the suspect remains on the loose.

Police say Jose Pablo Hernandez Reyes, 47, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado truck near 64 Plaza Street NE when he struck the victim around 5:12 p.m., police said.

Authorities say Reyes fled the scene.

The victim, Fidel Cruz Villacorta, was airlifted from the crash. He is in critical condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital, police said Tuesday.

A witness followed the suspect and captured a photo of the truck and tag number. Police recovered the car at a home in Hamilton, Virginia on Tuesdday morning and impounded the car for evidence.

However, Reyes' whereabouts remain unknown.

Police say he was last seen in Hamilton, but has ties to both Maryland and Virginia. Reyes is five feet, five inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has brown eyes and black and gray hair.

Police have obtained a warrant for a felony hit-and-run charge against Reyes.

Police are asking anyone with information about Reyes' location to call 703-771-4500, or call 703-443-TIPS to remain anonymous.
