1 Person Injured in Shooting at Pentagon City Mall Garage: Police

One person suffered life-threatening injuries after a struggle ended in a shooting at a mall parking garage in Arlington, Virginia, Monday afternoon, police say.

The shooting happened about 1:40 p.m. right outside the garage entrance to the Macy's at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City on Army Navy Drive, the Arlington County police and fire officials said.

Medics took one person to a hospital with serious injuries. Police said there are no additional victims and that there is no threat to the community or surrounding area.

Police say it appears two people got into a dispute when one of them fired the gun.

That gun was still visible when reporters reporters arrived, and was lying on the floor of the third floor parking level, just by the entrance to Macy's.

Witnesses said they heard as many as four gunshots.

Police also urged people to avoid the area.

The popular mall in the 1100 block of S. Hayes Street is located near a Metro station south of the Pentagon.
