Riders on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines may experience delays Wednesday morning after an arcing insulator was found near the Rosslyn station.
Metro suspended service on all three lines for about 30 minutes after the arcing insulator was found. An arcing insulator happens when “an insulator along the third rail that may be giving off sparks or smoke,” according to the Metro website.
Blue Line trains then shared a track between the Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery stations while the issue was fixed. Trains were also single-tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon on the Orange and Silver lines.
Trains are no longer single-tracking, bue Metro says riders should expect residual delays in both directions.
