A plan to extend bar hours in the District may not be dead after all.
D.C. Council Chair Kwame Brown is considering a compromise proposal. Under the plan, bars would stay open until 4 a.m. on some holidays and certain holiday weekends.
The extended bars hours would help balance the cityβs budget, according to Brown.
Many D.C. neighborhoods oppose the later nightlife. They cite increased noise, crime and trash problems.
City leaders will vote on the proposal next week.
