Two people have serious injuries, including a firefighter, after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Northeast D.C. Sunday, fire officials said.
D.C. Fire and Rescue said firefighters were called to a fire in the 3200 block of East Capitol Street NE about 8:15 p.m.
The fire escalated to a 2-alarm fire and has since been put out.
A firefighter was injured while responding and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the department said.
Two other people in the building were also taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries and the other with minor injuries.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
