Fairfax Co. Teacher Charged With Soliciting a Minor

A 50-year-old Fairfax County teacher is facing two felony charges stemming from an undercover investigation by a detective posing as a teenager online.

Norman Achin of Woodbridge, Virginia, used a social media app to solicit the undercover detective for sex, investigators say.

Investigators also say he sent a sexually explicit image, likely of himself.

Achin was arrested and charged with attempted indecent liberties and use of a communication device to solicit a minor. He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Achin was a teacher at Westfield High School and West Springfield High School during winter semester between 2017 and 2018.

Employee records show Achin taught Latin classes and was paid more than $87,000 a year.

Investigators say that Achin is currently suspended without pay during the investigation.

Investigators are also considering the possibility that there may be other victims. They are asking for anyone with more information or who experienced a similar incident with Achin to contact them at 703-246-7800.
