An 88-year-old man who was abducted by a woman pretending to be his daughter has been found safe in the Washington, D.C. area, police say.
John Alee Wimbush was last seen at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday on Forest Street in Martinsville, Virginia. Police say he was with 59-year-old Valerie Vianna Swinson of Fort Washington, Maryland.
According to the Martinsville Police Department, Swinson, who also goes by Valerie Vianna Condell, has been posing as Wimbush's daughter. She was wanted for abduction and intent to extort money. She is in police custody in D.C. and will be extradited back to Virginia.
Wimbush appears to be in good health and is being evaluated at the Veteran's Affair's Hospital in D.C.
