Democracy Spring Protesters Arrested in Capitol Rotunda

A dozen protesters against the role of money in politics have been arrested in U.S. Capitol's iconic Rotunda, capping a week of Democracy Spring protests in Washington by a coalition of groups.

U.S. Capitol police said in a statement nearly 150 people were arrested at the Capitol this week.

The protesters have been charged with "crowding, obstructing or incommoding,'' which is unlawful demonstration activity.

The peaceful demonstrations have been a daily feature in Washington this past week. Many of the protesters had marched from Philadelphia to Washington.

Since the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United ruling allowed unlimited political spending by individuals and corporations, numerous super PACs have spent millions of dollars trying to influence elections.
