The application process for D.C.'s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) will begin Friday, Mayor Vincent Gray and D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES) announced.
SYEP is a "locally funded initiative sponsored by the Department of Employment Services that provides District youth ages 14-21 with enriching and constructive summer work experiences through subsidized placements in the private and government sectors." The six-week program begins July 1 and lasts through Aug. 9.
The online application will be available starting at 12:15 p.m. Friday on DOES' official website. For those who need assistance or access to the internet, SYEP is holding a "Midnight Madness" event at DOES Headquarters, located at 4058 Minnesota Avenue NE from 12:15 p.m. to midnight.
Applications must be received by Feb. 16 and are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
