The Nationals’ Bryce Harper helped to dedicate a new baseball field in Northwest D.C. that bears his name.

"It’s so important that we continue this — to grow for the next generation of all baseball players," Harper said to a small and enthusiastic crowd at Saturday’s dedication ceremony.

The Bryce Harper Field can be found near the Takoma Community Center. It will host space for youth baseball and the Senators Satchel Paige Little League team.

The project, which cost $300,000, was supported financially by Harper and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office said in a statement.

"Bryce’s generosity will ensure that generations of young Washingtonians can experience the joy of playing baseball," Muriel Bowser said in a statement. The administration partnered to renovate the field.

At the dedication, Harper offered some brief advice to kids:

"Play as many sports as you can," Harper said. "Have fun."
