Broken Water Main Creates Geyser in Fort Washington

A broken water main in Fort Washington, Maryland, sent water shooting into the air Monday morning.

A damaged valve from the 1950s caused the break along Swan Creek Road, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) said.

The geyser appeared to be the height of a nearby power line.

WSSC says six customers in the area are without water. Repairs are expected to take four to six hours.
