WASHINGTON -- Traveling between Washington and New York City via Amtrak's high-speed train just got cheaper ... at least for a few months.
Beginning March 3, Amtrak will lower the price on its Acela Express trains between D.C. and NYC from $133 to as low as $99 each way with a 14-day advanced purchase. The lower rate is good on travel until June 26.
Tickets for trains between New York and Boston also decreased to as low as $79, down from $93.
"These new, low fares on Acela will make our flagship service more affordable for business and leisure travelers," said Amtrak's Emmett Fremaux in a news release.
Amtrak said availability is limited, tickets are one-way and nonrefundable, but they can be exchanged. Sorry folks, no upgrades to first class are available with the cheap tickets.
