'Future of Sports' Is Next Millennial Art Craze

Remember when you would play sports with friends on your neighborhood block until you tired yourself out or the sun went down? That’s exactly what my friends and I did while visiting the Future of Sports! Not only were we in awe of the art that was uniquely designed for each room, but we definitely wore ourselves out, too.

Located at 700 H St. NE, the Future Of Sports is an immersive art experience that brings a unique millennial touch to the District. Not only is it a place to take amazing pictures for your Instagram, but also a space to be social and get active.

You can shoot hoops in the hologram basketball court (my personal favorite), play tennis, throw footballs in the arcade room, go for a spin in the indoor cycling room and play in a salt-filled volleyball court. There’s something active to do in every room.

Future Of Sports creator and Made In The District founder Nicole Pinedo worked around the clock with her small but mighty, all-female team to create what is now the hottest “Instagram friendly” art exhibit in the D.C. area.

“We worked nearly 17-to-20-hour days for four weeks straight to complete this project,” the 28-year-old said.

Her father's construction company assembled the installations and helped her dream become a reality.

The exhibit will run until Nov. 30, and is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. You can purchase your ticket here.

Made in the District is donating $1 from every Future of Sports ticket to Becky’s Fund, a nonprofit that works to engage and educate coaches and male athletes on how to end and prevent domestic violence, through their program, Men of Code.

Congrats to my fellow #GirlBoss Nicole Pinedo and her team for successfully pulling this off, preserving culture and blending the lines between modern-day art and athletics!
