Officers investigating the report of a stolen car in Leesburg may have also uncovered a drug production operation.
Leesburg police received an On-Star alert at 12:06 a.m. Friday, indicating a car reported stolen in Indiana was in the area.
Officers checked out the vehicle, parked near Clubhouse Drive. The officers reported that a noxious odor was coming out of the car, and when they looked inside, they saw materials that looked like they could be used in a methamphetamine lab. Police said they located two people associated with the car, a male and a female.
A HazMat crew was called for further investigation.
Officers proceeded to search a nearby apartment where the male and the female lived. Inside the apartment, a substance believed to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was found.
