Loudoun Co. Teacher Charged With Being Drunk in School

A Loudoun County teacher was charged with being drunk in public after he was found apparently under the influence at the Ashburn, Va., school where he teaches.

Michael L. Hitzges, 47, of Ashburn, is a biology teacher and part-time driver’s education instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools. Since 2004, he has taught at Broad Run High School. He has worked at Loudoun County Public Schools isnce 2002.

Monday, other school personnel notified the school's resource officer that a teacher was in school and was possibly under the influence of alcohol.

Hitzges remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

He is on standard administrative leave with pay.
