2 Dead in Southern Avenue Crash

    Yale students are protesting a raid.

    Police are investigating a deadly crash in southeast Washington.

    Police said the car struck a telephone pole and caught fire in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue -- near the entrance to the United Medical Center -- at about 4:45 a.m. Friday, trapping two victims inside.

    Both died in the crash.  Their names have not been released.

    The crash has shut down Southern Avenue at Mississippi Avenue until further notice.
