3 Rescued After Car Gets Stuck in Icy Water in Maryland

Three people were rescued Monday night after their car got stuck in several feet of icy water in Boyds, Maryland, Montgomery County fire officials say.

The car got stuck in the icy water at Ten Mile Creek near W. Old Baltimore Road at 11 p.m. Monday. It's not clear why the car was in the area.

Photos from the scene show the silver car sitting among chucks of ice.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said three people were removed from the car and placed into a boat. The driver and passengers were cold, but they were uninjured, Piringer said.

Piringer said it was 10 degrees in the area at the time of the rescue, but it felt closer to 0 degrees.
