Former “American Idol” contender Kellie Pickler has joined the ranks of Jennifer Hudson supporters in the wake of the terrible tragedy that befell the Hudson family last week.
“I think everyone is praying for her and I definitely am,” Kellie told Access Hollywood. “It’s just such a tragic story and it’s so sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with her for sure.”

Kellie, who appeared on “Idol’s” Season 5 (Jennifer was on Season 3) said she hopes that people will leave the Oscar winner alone as she grieves the loss of her mother, Darnell Donerson Hudson, her brother, Jason Hudson and nephew, Julian King, who were murdered last week in Chicago.
“Everybody’s watching her and I’m sure it’s not easy when she turns on the TV and sees people talking about it,” she said. “I think, if anything, it would be nice just to respect her privacy and let her deal with this behind closed doors. It’s just a matter of respect. I think that it is much harder for someone that is dealing with something like this in front of everyone to watch. So I think the best thing is for people to respect her privacy and let her be.”
