Richmond Police: Woman Fatally Shot Through Home's Window

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Richmond police are asking for help identifying a suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman who was apparently struck by gunfire through the window of a home.

The police department said Monday in a statement that officers responded a day earlier to a home on the north side for a report of a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found 57-year-old Karon E. Williams with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police say a family member heard loud noises from the home’s back door and Williams went to investigate. As she approached, police say she was struck by a bullet that went through a window.

Williams was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries Sunday evening.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
