Md. Water Main Break Flings Concrete Into Air

WASHINGTON – A water main break threw chunks of cement into the air and has left six homes without water in Fort Washington.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission reports that a valve feeding into a fire hydrant near Gable Lane and Swan Creek Road failed just after 6:30 a.m. Monday, causing a break and a geyser of water that broke through cement.

Crews shut off the water and expect repairs to be done by the mid-afternoon.

A car was damaged by the flying cement; WSSC says it’ll cover the cost of the repairs.
