WASHINGTON — A Maryland man was arrested on rape and other charges after investigators say he confessed to sexually abusing a disabled woman at a nursing home in Montgomery County.
Stanley Thomas, 62, who lives at Kensington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, admitted to Montgomery County investigators he went into another resident’s room and raped the woman, according to court documents.
The 52-year-old woman suffers from Huntington’s disease and other conditions, which have left her immobile, non verbal and bedridden, the documents said. Officers consulted the victim’s medical power of attorney who said the woman was unable to acknowledge what’s happening around her.
Thomas told officers this was the second time he’d forced himself on the victim, the documents said.
The nursing staff called police earlier this month when they saw the victim’s normally open door was closed and found Thomas inside her room and her diaper removed, the documents said.
Thomas faces multiple counts of rape and sex offenses and is set to be in court on April 28.
